Expat Hacks for Free TV, Free Movies, and Free Music Downloads

BusinessBackpacker Tech Tip 11 Comments

Part of being an Expat is that while you may not miss your home country, you do miss your favorite shows.

There are loads of tools and torrents, but how do you know which ones are any good?

After years of “illegal / legal” downloads, I’m happy to share with you my very favorite tips and tricks.  Please keep in mind that I don’t care about the legal relevance of downloading, but I do care about the quality, speed, and ease of use.

How to Download Torrents

Firstly, you need to install a Torrent Downloader.  This acts as the tool to send the details of the said movie, music, software file to your computer for downloading and uploading.  I always use

μTorrent

Click it, download it, install it.

Get Your Free Movies / Music / Etc.

There are two places that I frequent.  One is The Pirate Bay, the other is Kick Ass Torrent.  Quite often these sites have to shut down and move, so if you can’t find them, just do a quick Google search, and it will show you their latest destination.

Free Streaming

If you don’t want to wait, you can check out this free streaming site.  YSS Rocks has a huge variety of free movies and TV series for your viewing pleasure.  Their format seems to change a lot, but the quality and speed are really good (and free!!!).

Free Music Files From YouTube

My favorite little trick is to rip new music from YouTube videos – without the video!  You can install this bad boy Media Human and have all of the free music you want just by copy and pasting the YouTube URL into the Media Human box.  Configure your download settings to drop directly into your iTunes folder, and you have instantly loaded music!

Tip:  If you don’t want all the video noise at the beginning of your video, search for the “lyrics” version of your favorite song.  This will have already edited the noise before the album and makes for better music listening.

Happy Downloading!  Don’t forget to give us a like and share us with your friends!
