How to Improve Your Business Systems in a Hurry (Part 2)

Your business will only ever be as good as the systems you have in place to support it.  If you are frustrated and struggling in one area of your company, my guess is that you need to improve your business systems.  Instead of staying stuck and spinning your wheels, why not work smarter rather than harder?

In the last blog, I asked you what if someone told you that you had 24 hours to build yourself out of your business.  You had some time to think about ideas for that.  What did you come up with?

How To Improve Your Business Systems

  1. Exit Planning – training your staff up so that your duties can be covered.
  2. Business Systems Integration – purchasing software to take the place of manual labor – put the money in and you won’t be sorry about the quality that comes out, and, the time you save.  Top tips?  Quickbooks Online for accounting, WordPress for your website, Salesforce for your CRM.
  3. Work in the Cloud – Google Suite, or “G Suite” is fantastic and if you are not using it you are missing out.  You can store loads of files, photos, videos on Google Drive and the Google Doc suite lets you do everything that Microsoft would but for free.  For small businesses, you can set up your email servers through Google Business for about five dollars per user/email address.  THIS IS A FANTASTIC SAVE.  No longer do you need bulky servers and to spend your nights wondering about tech and backup equipment.
  4. Narrow Your Focus – what are the ABSOLUTE ESSENTIALS that you must be there for in your business?  You are the voice of your blog? Your consulting? The only things you need to be doing are the parts that make money (that cannot be outsourced).  Everything else is just busywork.
  5. Relinquishing Control – most business owners suffer because they refuse to:

(1) relinquish any control,

(2) build dummy-proof workflow systems that anyone could follow, and,

(3) relinquish control.

You have to let people make mistakes to learn, and allow them time to excel to your expectations.  But, give them the tools to do their job well, and they will!  Don’t have any staff to hand things off to?  No problem!  Post your jobs up for freelancers on Fiver, Upwork, or hire a VA to help you part-time.

Take the time to implement these systems, and not just do it later.

All of these items are to get you focused and thinking about how to improve your business systems.  The exercise of thinking about leaving your business is just to get you thinking about automation – you don’t really need to leave!  I just want you to leave your non-capital earning activities to software, or to someone else.  Your time is better spent out trying to get the dollars, or, even better, creating content to bring the clients straight to you.  Once you get this sorted out (as fully explained in my Online Business Courses!  Then, you can have this MORE EXCITING option:

Don’t leave your business, TAKE IT WITH YOU!
