Hi Mars,
Thanks for writing! The internet in Thailand is better if you set yourself up for more of a long-term stay. I have friends in Bangkok that have done that, and I'm in Krabi, doing the same. There are also some cool options for extending your visa, and if you have any questions, please be in touch. I'm sure you will reach your goal--and congratulations for putting yourself out there! Dream Big :-)

That's an awe-some post, Brooke.
It's my destiny to become LIP as well, and I'm working every single day to bring that goal closer to reality !

My goal would be to live in parts of Asia, especially Thailand, but I have to check if the internet connection is usable.

Hi Brooke, I enjoyed reading your article. The point you made about "living somewhere" really made me think about the term "Location Independent". After all, if you "settle in", you're now depending on that location.

This train of thought made me realize that what we've been writing about is more of a "Boundary Independent" lifestyle; our mental restrictions determine how far we physically relocate.

Leaving the cubicle is the first step ... :)

Cheers,

Mitch

Ah, to become an LIP.... one of my life goals I can tell you. It started with the downsizing although I do plan to keep a "home base". There are a few material things that I want to keep. It would involve finding a small appartement and someone willing to walk in from time to time to clear out all the mail that accumulates behind the door. I'm currently working on a "100 things" challenge (You can read more on that on my blog if you like, but only do so if you are really interested. I don't ant to lure you there or anything.) whittling down my posessions to only 100 items. There will always remain a few problems however, what do you do with heirlooms?

There are a few things you will need to take with you and one thing you will need in you: the single most important thing to bring along (besides the laptop to run your business, your passport and those other essentials) are your social skills. Without these, or with a fear of talking to people and being in strange places you'd might as well give in straight away.

Always greet people with a smile andyou're half way there. Be humble and helpful and the world is your playground.
