One major realization I had that helped me move past the fear of failure was this: If I am living my life on purpose, and I am being assisted by the Universe…I can’t really ever fail. Because, in effect, I am representing the Universe.

this right here is what has helped me do things that, quite frankly, i'd find paralyzing. the universe, always in motion, does not want me to fail and, quite frankly, if i don't do it then the universe will give the opportunity to someone else and damnit, this one's mine :)

the rest of the post, damn good, too. i have a copy of Life of Pi that has somehow not been read. i need to fix that...

I'm with you there! Freaking out is something that I used to do a heck of a lot, but not anymore. This realization that the unknown isn't really worth worrying about is something that can take a really LONG time to grasp though.

@Nate - Thanks for the comment... I think in a way we should just expect everything to fall apart. If we can get over the fact that falling apart is really not a bad thing, we can take on much more in life! I'm learning a lot about uncertainty on this adventure... I think I'm getting closer to understanding that there really is no reason to perpetually freak out about the unknown. What do you think?

Brooke I really like this post. Especially the part on the fear of losing everything. When a situation seems really scary to me, I often sit down and think about the reality of how bad it could be. Often times the worst case scenario really isn't that bad at all once I think over the consequences and possible back-up plans if everything falls apart. Great post.
