After reading your post I'm convinced I want your babies!!!
I can be very purrrrrsuasive....swaps dignity pose for falling on knees PUUUHLEASE!
All my friends are zealot converts with their eyes staring soulless in the far distance deprived from the warm glow and affectious personality they once had and they keep repeating join Yoga Join yoga. Them mindless zombie lots. (I'm a bit scared to be honest)
Anyway I hate Yoga with vile passion by now.
I was scarred by Yoga at very young age when I saw some authentic hippy practicing naked complete naked...*shivers*...I never fully healed.
So thanks it gives me hope that the world is not doomed just yet reading your post.
You have my gratitude and a gratuit hug,
Ingstar

Debby - I'm laughing out loud. I had the knee pop thing too. I also couldn't lay still at the end when we were supposed to relax, I was sneaking a peek at my cell phone because the class time had gone over and I was going to be late for an appointment. I think it is great to get a laugh out of the things we aren't good at, and like you said, move on :0) Thanks for sharing!!

First time I tried yoga classes I found it incredibly boring, also hurt my neck trying to do a "shoulder stand" didn't even finish the series of classes I'd paid for "up front"...I was supposed to feel "energised" but just felt glad it was all over after each class. Tried it out a second time at the gym I joined....during the "standing on one leg thing" my knee "cracked" (everyone heard) gave way and I landed on the floor in an undignified heap....so I followed this advice "If at first you don't succeed...give up...there's no point making a damn fool of yourself" (W C Fields I think).....

Hi Ciprian - Yes, I've tried Tai Chi and really enjoyed it; I also really liked Chi Gung, too. Right now my zen of choice is climbing. I'm learning to lead-- and it is a bit Frightening!! Thanks for commenting!

I know what you mean. I did some yoga classes way back in '93. It was kinda cool, though. I was 16 at the time, so I was pretty flexible, didn't have to struggle too much. Nowadays I'm into Zen meditation (Shikantaza form) and I'm thinking of getting some Tai Chi classes. It doesn't seem too hard and I like the esthetic beauty of the moves. Maybe you should try that, instead of yoga. :)

Hi Salome, What a nice comment. Thank you for taking the time to write, I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying the site. I've had a lot of fun putting together the material on the site and taking the photos. Since you like gardening, I've attached a couple of photos from the area that you might like. Enjoy

Dear Brooke,

I have been surfing the internet of "images of beautiful places in the world" and I found your site the best ever in my sight. You have been an inspiration to many. Thank you for sharing your enjoyment in life.
My home is where I spent most of my precious time in gardening. I admire your energy and power of using your time in all your adventures to travel. I have read your interviews and they're so true. You love life itself.. and that's awesome! Keep doing what you enjoy doing. More power to you!

Hi Sonicsuns - yes, my lesson on this one is that we don't have to be good at everything. Sometimes, it's worth accepting that and moving on. My hope was to show this in a comical way. Cheers.

Hm...

Look, I realize that everyone's different, maybe yoga just isn't for you, etc., but still...maybe you should calm down a little.

For one thing, be aware that the yoga instructor is (by definition) much better at yoga than the beginners (i.e. you and me). So when the instructor does something that you can't, don't freak out about it. Just do the best you can.

"But it HURTS!". Ok, fine. Do less than whatever you're currently doing. Do less and less till you reach the point where it's still a stretch, but it's not actually painful. No doubt that this pose will look mild compared to what everyone else is doing, but that's *ok*, you're a *beginner*.

If the instructor asks you to stretch further, and you can't, just say "No." You don't have to get embarrassed or angry or dramatic about it (i.e. "NOOOOOOOOO!"). Just calm down and do what you can.
