After completing my MBA in 2006, I started my small business consulting company in California. My objective was simple: help small business owners to work less hours, and make more money.
I was very successful right away, and was able to make a dramatic impact in my client's lives, as well as their companies.
Seeing this result is the part of consulting that I find the most satisfying; I love watching a client go through transformational change from chaos to taking control and getting their life back.
In 2008 when the economy crashed, it hit very hard in California, where I was living. I watched entire neighborhoods foreclose, and good people go under. To put it lightly, I lost my faith in the American system. I am very idealistic when it comes to these kinds of things, and when I realized that my own country was bailing out finance companies instead of looking after its own people, I knew I needed to leave. From RegularBusiness to Online Business Consultant
My original plan was to put my business online, and become an Online Business Consultant. I moved my clients to Skype calls, and started a blog (the one you are reading today) and joined the world of running a Lifestyle Business. I thought this would go on for about a year, and I am pleasantly surprised that I have now been doing this for over a decade!
Living a "Lifestyle Business"
During this time, I lived on the beach and ran my online consulting business. I studied diving, climbed a lot, and traveled everywhere I'd ever wanted to go in the off seasons. I expanded my knowledge of doing business abroad, working in multiple currencies, and began working with larger and larger companies throughout Asia.
I've also had the opportunity to live various places in Asia and continue to learn more about Asian culture and Buddhism. This has dramatically impacted the way that I live, as well as the books that I write. It also ties in perfectly to what I teach business owners around the world.
The more familiar I became with living abroad, and working with global businesses, the better the opportunities have been that come my way. I am pleased to say that I have worked with clients from the following countries:

And the list keeps getting longer! So much for just living one year abroad :)!
